A water company has completed an 18-month long project to increase the size of its treated drinking water storage tank in Sevenoaks, after the previous reservoir stood for more than 90 years.
The work, which started in May 2019, saw South East Water invest more than £3.7m to increase the size of the storage tank from three million litres to five million litres, the equivalent of 62,500 bath tubs.
The storage tank is located off Solefields Road, with access through Fiennes Way.
South East Water will begin another £2.8 million project in Sevenoaks in spring 2021, where it will instal more than three kilometres of a new water main through Knole Park.
Project manager Paul Beaumont said: “We are really pleased to have completed this scheme which will keep taps flowing in Sevenoaks for decades to come.
“I’d like to take this opportunity to thank the nearby residents for their patience and understanding throughout the construction.”
The muddy ground around the tank will be planted with new grass seed in the spring.
