A pervert driving instructor who incited two young girls to perform sex acts on each other after picking them up in his AA car has been jailed for four-and-a-half years.
Matthew Ottley also asked them to video the sex play he was suggesting and threatened to put it on the internet if they told on him.
A judge said of Ottley's threat to post the clip on YouTube: "It shows planning, expectation and manipulation of control."
The 40-year-old married father, of High Street, Westerham, admitted two offences of causing or inciting a child to engage in sexual activity and two of arranging or facilitating child pornography.
His not guilty pleas to two charges of causing or inciting a child to engage in sexual activity was accepted.
Prosecutor Sarah Lindop said Ottley arranged to pick up the two girls from school. The first time nothing happened but on the next occasion shortly afterwards instead of taking them straight home he drove to an area where he walked his dog.
He spoke to them about performing sex acts, but they made it clear they did not want to.
"We are dealing with two young girls. It is a particularly loathsome thing to do" - Prosecutor Sarah Lindop
Ottley told one of the girls while they were parked at the KCC nature reserve he wanted a video of the activity and said he would give them £200 each if they did so. They both declined.
Miss Lindop said: "If they decided to tell someone what he had done he would post (the video) on YouTube - quite intimidating to these girls.
"He also told them he was giving them time to think about it. If they came out of school and didn’t have their tights on it would be an indication they were agreeing with what he had suggested."
Miss Lindop told an earlier hearing Ottley claimed he risked going to prison for 10 years.
The matter was brought to the attention of teachers and the police were informed.
Miss Lindop said at the earlier hearing: "We are dealing with two young girls. It is a particularly loathsome thing to do.
"It is something all right-thinking people would go 'Ooh' or something worse. He is not just having the film for insurance."
Miss Lindop said the mother of one of the girls had made a statement, but the mother of the other victim had given a reference for Ottley.
She refused to make a victim statement and would not allow her daughter to speak to the police any further.
"There is particularly unpleasant manipulation of two girls," said Miss Lindop. "If you tell, I will put it on social media which is there for all the world to see. It covers a multitude of sins."
Ottley’s name will appear on the sex offenders’ register indefinitely. A sexual harm prevention order was made for 10 years and he will be barred from working with children or vulnerable adults.
Paul Valder, defending, urged the judge not to lose sight of the fact that nothing (physical) actually happened between Ottley and the two girls.
"He is of hitherto good character," he said. "This is wholly out of character. There is no sympathy for himself. It is expressed for his wife and children who have been hounded out of their home.
"They are finding it particularly hard. His wife is due to be evicted because she can't afford the rent. They are about to move 100 miles away. He wishes to be reunited with them as soon as he possibly can."
Judge Julian Smith told Ottley: "It has been an extraordinary fall from what had been an otherwise law-abiding life. You have worked hard."
The judge said he was concerned there was apparently a deliberate intention to meet one of the girls.
"You, as a driving instructor, drove past her school to meet her and a friend," he continued. "You drove past to pick them up."
Ottley had reasoned that what he did was inappropriate, but not illegal.
"There was an intention to control and prevent any revelation on their part," said Judge Smith. "You were not misguided, you were manipulating these two young girls.
"The impact on them is clear. I know the impact on your family has been utterly catastrophic. There is one person responsible for that.
"This is a matter of grave concern. Fortunately, this was offending which was frustrated before it could be realised. A sentence of imprisonment must inevitably follow."
After the sentencing hearing, Detective Constable Caroline White said: "Ottley planned to film these young girls for his own gratification and whilst thankfully this didn't take place the consequences of his intentions are likely to remain with his victims for a long time.
"Both of these girls did the right thing in telling staff at their school of their concerns.
"Their courage has ensured that Ottley has been brought to justice and I hope now that both of these children and their families can move on with their lives."
