A man, who is said to be known to the victim, is believed to have left the scene, with police investigating whether he may have later entered the River Thames.

Officers attended the Dartford Crossing just before midnight, where a vehicle linked to the incident was recovered, alongside a firearm.

The force said it was not ruling out the possibility he may have entered the water, after call handlers received reports of a man on the wrong side of the barrier. They are still searching the water today.

The woman has been named as Slough resident Lisa Smith, 43, and the man is believed to be Edvard Stocking.

They are understood to have local connections and belong to the traveller community.

More floral tributes have appeared outside the pub over the weekend, with one saying: “Dear Lisa, rest in peace.”

Tributes have been paid to the grandmother, including from her son Teejay who said: "My dear old mum, never be another to walk in her shoes, the best."

Another tribute said: "Our love and prayers are with your family, especially your boys and your beautiful granddaughter."

On Facebook, one woman wrote: "RIP Lisa. May god give you the best bed in heaven."

Martin Ward, an Irish Traveller campaigner, told KentOnline of his shock.

He said: “I was numb when I heard about it.

“This has gone through the whole community like thunder. Men and boys fighting is one thing but this is different.

“My heart goes out to the family. I send my love and just feel sorry for them.

“We need to support them and do what we can as a community to ensure it does not happen again. This is not on. This is not what we do.

“And the local community, I can't image how they feel. It is just very upsetting.”

Speaking over the weekend, Three Horsehoes’ landlady Michelle Thomas explained how she was preparing for the Valentine’s Day dinner service when she heard two gunshots just after 7pm.

She said the victim, who is in her 40s, had been to the pub before but "wasn't a regular".

“There was so much commotion - screaming, shouting, crying," she said.

“People were only just starting to sit down, it was early on in the evening.”

Ms Thomas praised the work of an “amazing” off-duty firearms officer who intervened.

She said 50 people were in the pub at the time.

Senior investigating officer, Detective Chief Inspector David Higham, said over the weekend: “We are currently only looking for one suspect and do not believe there to be an ongoing risk to the public.

“Specialist officers continue to work with the families of both parties involved to support them following this tragic incident.”
