A manhunt is underway after police officers gave chase to a driver acting suspiciously who failed to stop when requested.

Officers on a routine patrol in Edenbridge at around 11am signalled for a Suzuki Vitara to stop.

Yet the 4x4 made off from patrols who followed for a short time before having to abandon the pursuit due to safety concerns.

Inquiries are ongoing to locate the driver.

Police tweeted: "PC's Nick and Sian have been down in #Edenbridge today.

"Unfortunately someone decided that it was more appropriate to endanger the lives of other road uses and fail to stop for them, rather than simply stop and have a chat."
