A five-inch knife was seized by police in Sevenoaks at the weekend.

Officers carrying out a stop and search in London Road just after 9.20pm on Friday discovered the blade and arrested a 34-year-old man.

Dean Branch of Greatness Lane, Sevenoaks, has been charged with possessing an offensive weapon in a public place and shoplifting.

The shoplifting relates to the alleged theft of two bottles of wine and food products to the value of £24.49 from a shop in London Road, Sevenoaks, on Friday.

Branch is due to appear at Medway Magistrates' Court today.
