Prolific Sevenoaks thief Evelyn Lawlor jailed

A prolific thief who stole items including a taxi driver's ID badge, a handbag from a restaurant and more than £500 worth of fragrances has been jailed.

On September 17 last year Evelyn Lawlor, of St John's Road, Sevenoaks, stole fragrances worth £545 from a shop in Sevenoaks High Street.

On October 2 the 43-year-old stole a purse and its contents worth £150 from a woman's handbag at a restaurant in Mount Pleasant Road, Tunbridge Wells.

On October 17 she stole a Hackney Carriage driver's ID badge in Watercress Drive, Sevenoaks.

On November 5 she stole a bank card in Tonbridge and on December 28 she attempted to steal items from a woman's handbag at a café in The Pavillion in Tonbridge.

She also stole a digital camera at the same café.

Lawlor pleaded guilty to five counts of theft, one count of shoplifting and one count of attempted theft from a person.

The bench at Maidstone Magistrates' Court sentenced her to 56 days in prison. She must also pay £450 compensation.
