Two leisure centres which shut unexpectedly are set to reopen next month with a new operator.
Edenbridge and Sevenoaks Leisure Centres and Lullingstone Park Golf Course were forced to close in March after Sencio – the firm which runs them – went into liquidation.
Sevenoaks District Council has held a number of meetings since the closures to discuss the future of the sites and cabinet members approved a budget of almost £2 million from reserves to reopen the sites.
It has since confirmed that provider Everyone Active will take over running the sites on an interim basis.
Last week, it was announced Lullingstone Park Golf Course will be reopening this weekend, on Saturday, April 22.
Everyone Active has now said the two leisure centres will open on Monday, May 1.
Area contract manager Hasan Romel said: “We are hugely excited to be welcoming the local community back into these fantastic facilities very soon.
“Alongside Sevenoaks District Council, the health and well-being of the local community is our top priority so we are really keen to offer individuals of all ages and abilities an opportunity to get active.
“The upcoming open days will be a great way for new and prospective members to visit the centres and trial the wide variety of activities available.”
Edenbridge and Sevenoaks Leisure Centres both offer a 25-metre swimming pool, gym, multi-function sports hall and wellness suite.
Previous members will be able to enrol on a new membership with Everyone Active from Monday, April 24.
To celebrate the re-opening of the sites, open days offering a range of free activities are planned for May 1 from 8am to 8pm, at both Edenbridge and Sevenoaks Leisure Centre.
