Flood alerts have been issued in some areas of the county due to rising river levels.

It comes after a yellow weather warning was put in place for heavy rain and strong winds from 5pm tomorrow until 6am Thursday.

The Environment Agency has put the new flood alert in force for the Upper River Medway as water levels rise.

Flooding of roads and low lying land is expected from 6pm this evening in Ashurst and Penshurst.

Experts think river levels could remain high until Thursday and have warned people to "be prepared".

They added: "We are closely monitoring the situation. Our incident response staff are out on the ground checking and clearing any blockages and debris from rivers and actively monitoring the situation and are prepared to respond if required. Please stay aware in case further warnings are issued."

Flooding is not expected to affect properties.

This latest alert comes after floods hit Kent extensively already this month.

People are being reminded to stay safe and take precautions to avoid accidents.
