Has Sevenoaks become more sophisticated in the past five years?
The owners of a new pan Asian and sushi bar due to open next month believe it has.
Kazoku will open in Blighs Meadow, near to the M&S store, on Friday, December 6, with a special VIP night and the Mayor of Sevenoaks cutting a tape.
It will offer dishes from Japan, the Philippines, Malaysia, Vietnam and Korea.
Run by Josh Ahmet and Rachelle Solan, Kazoku will seat 120 for table-service meals over two floors.
The sushi kitchen will be open plan and visible to all as they enter on the ground floor.
Miss Solan promised: "It will be theatre as well as great food."
While Kazoku will be the town's only sushi restaurant, it is not the first time restaurateurs have sought to bring the Asian raw fish meals to the town.
In 2014, Hugo Peyrel opened the town's first sushi restaurant, called Seven Sushi, in London Road. It operated for only six months before Mr Peyrel converted it to a Tex-Mex sports bar named Tex Mex Border selling burgers, steaks and fajitas.
At the time, Mr Peyrel said Sevenoaks was just not ready for sushi.
However, the Giggling Squid Thai restaurant, also at Blighs Meadow, and the Wagamama Japanese restaurant in the High Street, have since introduced the taste of the east to the town. For booking at Kazoku, call 01732 463888.
