Sevenoaks Town Council has released details of how it intends to invest approximately £4million into community assets and facilities.
Plans for the town are set out in the 'Community Investment Plan 2014' and have been made possible due to management and plans for consolidation of the council's assets.
While the investment plan is the culmination of community engagement, the implementation and specifics of individual projects will be subject to further consultation, according to councillors.
The funding will come from sale of land at Raleys, sale of town council offices at Bradbourne Vale Road, community infrastructure levy and external grants and match funding where appropriate.
The council has budgeted £250,000 for capital improvements to the Stag Community Arts Centre. Improvements could include air handling system; cinema seating and carpeting and a theatre sound system upgrade.
Other plans include:
• The previously announced redevelopment of the Bat & Ball Community Centre
• Replacement provision for both Raleys Gym and the Indoor Cricket School
• A large children's play area close to the Town Centre & additional 'free play' facilities in
various locations throughout the Town
• The conversion of the band practice on the Vine into a community cafe
• A multi use games surface and additional sporting and leisure facilities identified in the recent Sports Strategy project
• Setting aside funds to help achieve objectives identified in the emerging Sevenoaks Town
Neighbourhood Plan
The council said it is committed to providing fit for purpose and good quality facilities for residents in the town. Some facilities are approximately 30 years old and are no longer deemed fit for purpose.
In the plan the council states it needs to "consider the financial implications for this delivery and the long term sustainability of the council and the facilities.
"A key aim of Sevenoaks Town Council is where possible not to borrow funds and to own freehold premises."
