The Windmill, in Sevenoaks Weald has won West-Kent CAMRA (Campaign for Real Ale) Pub of The Year 2014.
Having won the CAMRA Branch of the Year award, the pub is continuing to succeed following its transformation in 2012.
The Windmill was selected the winner out of approximately 1,000 pubs in the West-Kent area.
Each pub within the competition is judged and assessed through several different rounds.
CAMRA members make visits to pubs throughout the year and judge each establishment on a range of different aspects. Members use a beer scorage system to assess the quality of the real-ale sold.
The traditional village pub was taken over by licensees Matthew Rudd and partner Emma Cole in 2012 who turned what was a run down and failing pub into a hot-spot location that the village should be proud of.
Matthew said: "Emma and I were delighted firstly to be selected by our local CAMRA branch as their pub of the year and secondly to win pub of the year for the West Kent region, especially as this is only our 1st full year of trading at The Windmill.
"We have got together a great team at The Windmill and have enjoyed fantastic support from the local community."
The couple, who had previously run the Stile-Bridge, a well-known free house close to Marden, had their interested sparked by the Windmill when they were looking for somewhere closer to their children's schools.
The interior of the establishment was completely re-fitted and decorated in a style that was sympathetic to the Victorian building. The traditional feel is enhanced by dividing interior with various high-backed wooden settles and benches.
The result of the transformation is a welcoming, and comfortable pub which is a delight to visit, and a well-deserved winner of the CAMRA Pub of the Year.
