The Conservative and Labour candidates battling each other in the General Election to represent Sevenoaks have been exchanging letters.
Tory hopeful Laura Trott opened the exchange by sending Labour's Seamus McCauley a missive saying: "There's no doubt that Getting Brexit Done is the key issue facing the UK."
She said: "If we fail to do so, then it's clear that Parliament will remain gridlocked.
"Without a plan to get Brexit done, it is impossible to have credibility on anything else.
"That's why if I am elected I have confirmed that I will back the great new deal that Boris Johnson has already confirmed with the EU."
"However," said Mrs Trott, "your position on Brexit remains unclear and needs urgent clarification to help local people make their choice in this election."
Mr McCauley has replied: "Thank you for your letter. it was a pleasure to hear from you. I hope you have been enjoying your visit to Sevenoaks (Mrs Trott lives in London).
"We were sorry to have missed you at last night’s climate hustings in Otford, but I sympathise with your reluctance to defend in public 10 years of Conservative government inaction on the climate emergency."
Mr McCauley continued: "The Labour Party will resolve Brexit once and for all by negotiating a fair exit deal with the EU that prioritises jobs, workers’ rights and the environment, and then putting that deal back to the voters in a confirmatory referendum.
"My own pledge to campaign in the subsequent referendum in favour of remain is a matter of long-standing public record and I am proud to re-iterate that intention here."
Other candidates standing in Sevenoaks are Paul Wharton (Green) and Gareth Willis (Lib Dem) both in favour of Remain, and Paula Furse (Ind) and Sean Finch (Libertarian) both in favour of Leave.
