Six people were injured after a car careered into a group of people just moments after a crash.
Police are calling for witnesses to come forward after the crashes in Croydon Road, B2024, Westerham last night.
The chain of events was sparked by the first crash at around 6.20pm, involving a blue Fiat Punto travelling to the town centre when it left the road and overturned.
The driver managed to get out of the vehicle, but two passengers were trapped inside.
But as two good samaritans in a silver Audi Q5 stopped to help they were struck by a black Audi A4.
The three people who were out of their cars were hit, as well as the Punto, and a pedestrian.
Fire crews needed to use hydraulic cutting equipment to release two people who were trapped.
The Serious Collision Investigation Unit closed the road for a number of hours.
The four people all suffered "serious but not life-threatening injuries" and were taken to hospital - the two trapped passengers in the Punto suffered only minor injuries.
Witnesses to the incident or anyone with information that may assist the investigation are urged to call the appeal line on 01622 798538 or email sciu.td@kent.pnn.police.uk.
