Young activists were out in force in Sevenoaks in the latest of a series of climate change protests to hit the county.

The YouthStrike4Climate group, with backing from Extinction Rebellion, made their environmental concerns heard at The Vine cricket ground on Friday (June 21).

Children from nearby primary schools were allowed to step out of classes to join the protest, which in total was made up of around 80 people.

Mum-of-three and environmentalist Laura Clout said: "We've been trying to get a teenage group together to take it over from us and were joined by some primary school pupils as well.

"We had a musician who wrote some songs for us, including one called Sevenoaks Bubble, and there were some really moving speeches from the kids as well which had a few people in tears.

"We also had an anti-idling campaign to try and promote the fact leaving your engine on like that can be as bad as smoking.

"A lot of people probably don't realise that drivers who leave their engine to idle, even when it's just out of habit, can be fined up to £80."
