A 17-year-old youth from the Sevenoaks area appeared in court today charged with attempting to murder a girl of 16 at Sevenoaks last Saturday. He is also accused of a serious assault.

The youth appeared before Tunbridge Wells magistrates and was remanded in custody to appear at the next youth court in Sevenoaks on March 14.

A 16-year-old girl remains in Kent & Sussex Hospital at Tunbridge Wells with serious injuries.
