WITH no county beneficiary for 2007, Kent's coaching staff and players are dedicating some of their time to help raise funds toward the Kent Cricket Academy and Kent Young Cricketers scheme.

Their ultimate aim is to raise enough money to buy a 17-seater mini bus to transport players to their matches safely while reducing the outlay to players' parents at the same time.

To boost the appeal, Kent's coaching co-ordinator Simon Willis is helping to organise a golf day at the Redlibbets course near Sevenoaks on Thursday, September 27.

Willis said: "Such a comprehensive coaching and playing programme requires every resource available to succeed and any support will give us a great start in achieving our ultimate aim of producing cricketers from Kent to play for Kent."

Teams of four can enter the event for a total cost of £240, which includes a coffee and bacon roll breakfast, Stableford golf event playing alongside Kent players past and present, and a three-course dinner and memorabilia auction.

For further details, contact Simon Willis on 01227 456886 or at the St Lawrence ground.
