KELLY HOLMES eased herself back into action after injury with a solid 1,500m performance at the IAAF Golden League meeting in Rome.

The Sevenoaks athlete, who has had a niggling calf injury, stayed off the pace for the opening two laps, before coming through to take fourth place in 4:01.96.

Holmes (Ealing, Southall and Middlesex AC) went on to run a 3,000m race in the Norwich Union Super League meeting at Gateshead on Sunday for stamina work.

She will now target an 800m race in Belgium on Saturday, August 2 to build up her speed.
