Sevenoaks Town pulled out of the Kent Senior Cup on the eve of their first-round meeting at Sittingbourne.

Oaks, who were due to face the Brickies in a rearranged tie tonight, cited injuries after forfeiting their place in the competition.

The Isthmian South East club travel to Bath City in the FA Cup Third Qualifying Round this Saturday and didn't want to risk further injuries.

In a statement released last night, Sevenoaks said: "Unfortunately we have had to withdraw from tomorrow evening's rescheduled Kent Senior Cup game away to Sittingbourne FC.

"We have a number of injuries and with the biggest game in our history this upcoming Saturday away to Bath City in the FA Cup Third Qualifying Round, we need to avoid any further injuries.

"We haven't been able to agree a postponement with Sittingbourne FC or the Kent FA unfortunately, so sadly we are having to withdraw from this prestigious competition."

Paul Springett, a director at Southern Counties East club Erith & Belvedere, suggested Sevenoaks field their under-18s to honour the fixture.

Oaks responded, saying they "explored that as an option, even looked at trying to play our vets but unfortunately neither was possible".

Sevenoaks beat Hertford 5-3 on penalties after a 2-2 draw in the FA Trophy Second Qualifying Round on Saturday.

Omari Hibbert and Ryan Gondoh struck as Oaks twice came from a goal down before winning the shoot-out.

They've been drawn away to Isthmian Premier Lewes in the next round on October 8.
