An ambulance driver was left without any means of getting to work after thugs stole his motorbike.
Terry Hughes had the yellow Kawasaki taken from outside his home in Queenborough on the Isle of Sheppey.
It has since been found written off just a few miles away at Kemsley, near Sittingbourne.
Terry said: "I got a call from a couple of Good Samaritans saying they had found my bike at Kemsley sub-station. But when I got there it was a complete write-off."
He says his insurance company is only prepared to pay half of what the bike was worth and he has been saddled with a bill for £250 from the recovery company which took it away for scrap.
Now friend Chris James has launched a justgiving page to raise £3,000 to get a replacement bike.
Chris said: "Terry is a proud man and would never ask for this himself. But I feel during these times we could all club together so an ambulance driver won’t be out of pocket because of some thieving little scrote!
"I offered £100 reward for information which would lead to Terry getting his bike back in one piece. That hasn’t happened. So I’m putting that £100 in to start a justgiving appeal. Please give whatever you can and share far and wide.
"The very best I can hope for is for Terry to be able to get a bike and a year's insurance and not be any worse off than he was before he had his bike pinched. If there is any money over, I know Terry and his family will want it donated to the NHS."
Terry needs transport to get to his headquarters. He reported the theft of his ER6N Kawasaki reg MX56TXU on April 11. In a Facebook post he said: "I can't believe I'm just about to leave for work and some b****** has nicked my bike. It has a very loud exhaust so you may hear it. It also has a few bungee cords on the back handles."
At first he used his mother's car to get to work but has now been given a works bike until he can get his own replaced.
