Armed police called to Minster High Street in Sheppey

Armed police were called in following reports someone was seen carrying a weapon.

Minster High Street in Sheppey was closed off while officers searched the area.

However, they did not find anything and no one was arrested.

It happened at 5.10pm near The Highlander Pub.

A spokesman said: "Armed officers attended the scene and the road was closed as it had been reported that someone may have been in possession of a weapon.

"No weapons were found and no arrests were made.

"The road has now reopened and officers are continuing to make enquiries into the circumstances of the incident."
