Sheppey schools take part in Beachfields project

Schoolchildren have been carrying out surveys to find out what people want to happen in the redevelopment of Beachfields in Sheerness.

Pupils from West Minster, St Edward’s and Oasis Academy Isle of Sheppey took part in the second of three workshops at the academy’s West Site in Marine Parade, Sheerness, last Tuesday.

They met to analyse the 150 or so responses to a survey they created to find out what the community would like to see in Beachfields park, off Beach Street, in the future.

Despite improvements, more than 700 parents did not get any of their choices. Picture: Andy Payton

They have also made a series of graphs based on the information which will be displayed at an investment event on April 24.

A spokesman for the academy said: “They want to get young people’s views on what they would like to see and the whole idea is for the development to be for all age ranges.”

Ideas for the Swale Community Leisure project include improved tennis courts, a sensory garden, family den and youth hut.
