Minster Cricket Club play arguably the most important game in their history on Saturday.

The Islanders go into their final Shepherd Neame Kent League Division 3 game of the season against Gravesend at Gilbert Hall knowing that they could either pip leaders Upchurch for the title, finish runners-up or still miss out on promotion if they lose to Gravesend and third-placed High Halstow beat OD CUACO.

Minster are now just one point behind Upchurch after last Saturday’s matches, when Minster beat Wickham Park while Upchurch, who are at home to Catford Wanderers this weekend, lost to Gravesend.

Minster captain James White said: "With the league going to the final game it makes for an exciting end to our season and we are hoping for a good crowd on Saturday.

"Our main goal all along has been to win promotion but if we can go up as champions then so much the better.

"Gravesend don’t have any outstanding individuals but they have 11 good players, as they showed by beating Upchurch at the weekend, and they also beat us at home so they will be feeling confident about coming to our place."

Last Saturday, Minster were six-wicket winners over bottom club Wickham Park.
