A father is facing a jail sentence for committing a series of burglaries and other offences.

James McGinley broke into a home in Rectory Lane, Brasted, near Sevenoaks, on May 18 last year and stole £400, $200 and jewellery.

He also burgled a house in Leysdown Road, Bay View, on July 28 and stole a watch, money, clothing, a wedding ring, engagement ring, eternity ring, other jewellery, a laptop computer and a wallet.

McGinley, who appeared via video link at Maidstone Crown Court today, pleaded guilty to the burglaries and further admitted making a threat to kill a police officer and aggravated vehicle taking involving a Peugeot, which was damaged in a crash.

The 42-year-old, of Braganza Street, Kennington, South London, denied damaging a fence belonging to Henry Cooper at a house further down Leysdown Road.

He was not asked to enter a plea to a fraud charge and will do so at a further hearing at the court on Tuesday.

The prosecution then proposes to offer no evidence against McGinley’s daughter Jamilee Mizzi, 18, of the same address, who has denied breaking into the house in Leysdown, conspiracy to commit fraud and aggravated vehicle taking.

A warrant was issued for McGinley’s arrest after he failed to answer his bail in August.

Prosecutor Ian Dear said McGinley was due to be sentenced at Inner London Crown Court for four burglaries. He is also due to stand trial on an assault charge in May.

He could be sentenced there also for the Kent offences.
