Dead hedgehogs and birds found near Harty Ferry Road, Sheppey

Police are investigating after dozens of dead animals were dumped by a roadside.

Officers were called to Harty Ferry Road on the Isle of Sheppey, just before midday to reports of several deceased birds and hedgehogs.

One witness saw 10 dead hedgehogs and three kestrels dumped on the Sheppey roadside.

She said: "Devastated to find the the dumped remains of 3 kestrels and 10 hedgehog beside pullin on Harty Road. Blatant evidence of wildlife crime."

The force have confirmed they attended the scene and are now investigating.

A spokesman said: "Enquiries into the incident have been commenced and anyone with information should call us."
