Emergency services were called to reports a person had fallen from a cliff near the Leas, Minster, on the Isle of Sheppey.

Kent Police say they were called at 4pm yesterday and attended the scene alongside ambulance and fire crews, as well as resources from the Maritime and Coastguard Agency.

The fire service sent four engines alongside a technical rescue team to the scene where they spent two hours searching for someone.

A spokesman said: "Kent Fire and Rescue Service was called at 4.12pm to The Leas in Minster following reports a person had fallen.

"Police, SECAmb and the HM Coastguard were all in attendance.

"Crews assisted with searching the area, however no persons were found."

They left the scene at around 6.15pm.

The coastguard helicopter was also sent but no one was located, and police say enquires are ongoing in relation to the accuracy of the report made.

One eyewitness said: “It’s very busy. I don’t actually know what’s going on but it’s the most rescue personnel I’ve seen at once. There was a helicopter flying round for 30 minutes but it’s gone now.”
