A dad is doing a skydive in memory of his baby son who died almost two years ago.

Stevie-Joe Ranger died aged four months after suffering a cardiac arrest in July 2009. His mum Sarah had given birth to him three months prematurely.

Jimmy, of Leicester Road, Warden, is hoping to do a skydive this summer to raise money for the Oliver Fish Baby Care Unit at Medway Maritime Hospital, where Stevie was treated.

Sarah, 28, said she and 30-year-old Jimmy, who has five other children, are hoping for sponsorship from Islanders and businesses so they can raise enough money to buy a new incubator for the ward.

She said: “The skydive is our way of saying thank you to the nurses for giving us that time we did have with Stevie.

“They took care of him so well, all of the staff there were so good to me and the rest of my family and I can’t say how grateful we are for all they did for our baby boy.”
