A flood alert is in place along a stretch of the Kent coast.

The Environment Agency has warned that the Isle of Sheppey and the coast between Kemsley and Seasalter could see flooding tomorrow.

The alert has come into force for Sheppey and the coastline from Kemsley to Seasalter, including Sittingbourne and Faversham.

A high spring tide and tidal surge is predicted overnight and in the early hours of tomorrow and people living in those areas have been advised to be prepared.

The Environment Agency says tides will be at their highest between midnight and 4am tomorrow.

Flooding is expected to affect low-lying land, roads and coastal footpaths, but flooding of properties is not expected.

"We are closely monitoring the situation and our incident response staff are operating our tidal defences and structures," the agency said.#
