POLICE officers were called to the Sheerness-bound carriageway of the A249, the new Cowstead roundabout, this afternoon following a report that an articulated lorry was on its side.

The driver of the lorry is reported to have sustained injuries and the Kent Ambulance Team was called to the scene. Kent Fire and Rescue Service were also called.

Sally Smith, police media and communications officer, said the lorry was carrying fruit.

The incident happened at around 12.30pm.
