A furious father says he and his family are living on “moon land” after moving onto a building site.

Tom Pexton, 42, and his family moved into Larch End on the Thistle Hill estate, Minster, Sheppey, in October but say developer Jones Homes promised the area around their brand new £225,000 three-bedroom semi-detached home would be tidied up.

Instead, eight months on, Mr Pexton says pavements and roads remain uneven and unsurfaced, boundaries have temporary metal fences and workmen’s portable offices remain on site.

Mr Pexton, himself a builder, said: “I’ve lived in a new-build house before at Sittingbourne but I had no trouble with that.

“Customer service here is completely non-existent. The company just doesn’t seem to be interested.”

Jones Homes was asked for a comment but has not replied.

Mr Pexton said: “It is like living on moon land. My two-year-old daughter Lilly has fallen over twice and cut herself on the rough ground.

“Part of the agreement when we bought this house was that all this would be cleaned up. Instead, dirt has filled the drains so when it rains the road and pavements flood.

“All we have is one man with a broom trying to clean up. It’s like living on a building site with 20-tonne tipper trucks flying past and kicking up dust which we are breathing in.

“It is horrendous. This is not what we signed up for.”

He added that his home was flooded on Christmas Eve when high water pressure blew the taps off.

He said: “I have never been treated so badly. I think we have been hoodwinked.”

Jones Homes also faced complaints about the build quality of homes at its Kingsborough Manor development at Eastchurch last year.
