The Isle of Sheppey is normally teeming with tourists at this time of the year as shops and holiday parks prepare for Easter which is just two weeks away.

But coronavirus changes everything.

Caravan owners have been sent home on Government orders and parks have closed.

Shutters on amusement arcades remain firmly bolted as Leysdown is on lockdown, save for a DIY store and the bakery.

Sheerness and Sittingbourne are no better and both look like ghost towns.

A few businesses like the butchers, bakers, newsagents, greengrocers, chemists, pet shop, dry-cleaners have been allowed to stay open.

But footfall is slight with many traders reporting a noticeable drop in custom.

There are a few pedestrians nipping in for essential supplies and some collecting takeaways from hastily converted cafes.

But no one is loitering around the Sittingbourne's bargeman statue or Sheerness clock tower any more.

These are, indeed, difficult times.
