It happened on the Isle of Sheppey at around 7am, with UK Power Networks saying 154 people have been affected.

One place which was struck by the power outage was Elmhurst Caravan Park in Second Avenue, Sheerness , who were forced to ask people visiting to return home.

A spokesman for the team site said: "Following on from the news and latest update given to us by UK Power Networks regarding the ongoing outage, we are asking owners to start making arrangements to leave the park and return to their main residence until the problem is resolved.

"We understand that it is half term and a lot of time has already been missed using your holiday homes this year, however, that is completely out of our control and electric is an essential fuel to help maintain and run your holiday homes safely.

"This is not a decision we take lightly but as a park, we feel as though it's the best decision for everyone.

"Again we are sorry for any inconvenience this may cause but the safety and well being of our owners is always our priority."

UK Power Networks has said the problem is expected to be fixed by 3.30pm and it has received around 30 calls from customers about the problem.
