A firm which offers activity breaks for children has launched a desperate search for a new base.

Creed Outdoor Learning needs to find another site, ideally made up of about five to six acres of grass or woodland, which can hold its equipment and activities.

The not-for-profit organisation, headed up by founder Paul Oxberry, has been asked to leave its current base for about the last six years at Sittingbourne Milton and District Scouts in Bexon Lane, Bredgar.

Mr Oxberry said an alternative venue needs to be found by the end of November so equipment, such as climbing walls and archery bows, can be moved in time.

It also hosts residential stays for pupils of Island schools and can turn school fields and playgrounds into miniature camps.

The 52-year-old said: “We’ve not been given a reason but new people have taken over the Scout camp.

“I came back from a camp on October 18 and saw an email from the Scouts saying we had to remove the equipment before December 31.

“I know during the summer they have some of their groups there but I haven’t been told why we have to move.

“Realistically, we need to find somewhere by the end of November so we could set everything up and move it all.”

Creed, which stands for Challenge, React, Explore, Experience and Develop, is also part of Swale Youth, which runs activity taster days at Milton Creek Country Park, Oare Gunpowder Works in Faversham and other venues.

They include letting children try climbing, archery and other activities.

He added: “If we can’t find anywhere else we could continue our outreach work but our site-based work is about two thirds of our income.”
