A planning inspector is to open an inquiry looking into proposals for up to 700 homes at Barton Hill Drive.

Members of Swale council’s planning committee refused to grant permission for the properties to be built last year.

The applicant, SW Attwood, asked the Planning Inspectorate to look again at the proposals after appealing the council’s decision.

The inquiry will take place into the Sheppey application from 10am on tomorrow.

The inspector, Martin Whitehead, will hear evidence from council officers and the organisation requesting permission for the properties.

It will take place at Swale council’s HQ, Swale House in East Street, Sittingbourne.

It is expected to sit for a period of six days between Tuesday and Friday, February 7.

They will then break, resuming on Tuesday, February 11, before hearing closing statements the next day.

Anyone who wants to can attend the sessions.

Following the inquiry, Mr Whitehead is expected to draw up a report which will either allow or refuse the application for the homes.
