Break-in at Sheppey Miniature Engineering and Model Society in Barton's Point coastal park in Marine Parade, Sheerness

An Island club had a water pump and a small safe stolen and two of its buildings damaged in a break-in.

The entrance to Sheppey Miniature Engineering and Model Society’s shed at Barton’s Point, off Marine Parade, Sheerness, was completely torn off, with concrete panelling smashed in order to break off a steel door.

Inside the petrol powered pump, which will cost about £400 to replace, was taken.

The group’s clubhouse was broken into as entrance was forced through the peak of the roof which also damaged the wall.

A small tin safe was stolen which had paperwork but nothing of value inside.

The burglary happened at some point between Thursday and Friday. CCTV footage captured from around 4am shows a hooded man within the grounds.

Chairman of the society, Robert Dawson, said: “We had to spend all weekend repairing the damage.”

A police spokesman said no arrests have been made at this stage.
