SHEPPEY leisure park concessionaire Sean D'Alton was today given notice to quit by Swale Borough Council.

Mr D'Alton, who runs 4 Seasons Leisure at Barton's Point Coastal Park in Sheerness, is supposed to leave the site tomorrow (Wednesday) after a dispute with the council led to his licence being revoked.

But Mr D'Alton has been advised by solicitors to stay put and has vowed to fight against eviction. He was originally given two weeks to leave after a dispute about the way he ran the site, but this period was extended to three months which expired today.

A council spokesman said: "The council will take whatever action is considered necessary to regain possession of the site."

A council statement said the park and its facilities will remain open to the public, although the boathouse cafe will be closed until a new licensee is appointed. Clubs can make use of the clubhouse by contacting the council.

The motorcycle park, which is currently closed, will open soon once illegally tipped mixed soil and rubble have been removed and the area has been inspected and approved by the Environment Agency.
