League Cup winners Castle Tavern

Sheppey Sunday League Divison 3 side Castle Tavern completed a fairytale victory in the League Cup final at Bourne Park on Sunday.

They faced Division 1 Leysdown having despatched four Division 1 sides in previous rounds and repeated the feat with a 2-0 win after extra-time.

Castle just edged a goalless first half but Leybourne fought back in the second half with Castle keeper Lyndon Brown making a fine save to keep the match goalless.

Barker and Ralph marshalled the Tavern defence superbly and restricted Leybourne to efforts from distance.

As both teams toiled in the heat on a big pitch, the full-time whistle arrived.

In extra-time, it was Castle who struck, midway through the first period, when Luke Rowlands headed in off the post.
