Man bailed after armed police swoop on Warden Bay Road, near Leysdown

A suspect has been bailed after armed police swooped on a Sheppey street.

Firearms officers were called to Warden Bay Road, near Leysdown, just before 8.15pm on Sunday following reports a vehicle had hit a pedestrian.

A woman was found with injuries and taken to hospital.

Police said during the 999 call about the collision, it was reported the driver might be in possession of a weapon.

A man who was arrested - outside the Bay View Garden Centre in Leysdown Road - in connection with the incident has been bailed until Wednesday, August 19.

Police said the man and woman knew each other.

The woman’s injuries were not life-threatening and she has since been discharged.

The force would not confirm if a weapon was recovered.
