The Sheppey Carnival Court 2012 has been crowned at a selection night.

It took place at Bonds Sports and Social Club in New Road, Sheerness, on Saturday.

The junior and senior court were chosen by a panel of judges made up of Roger Samson of the Canterbury Carnival Court, former Miss Sittingbourne Angela Maybourne, chairman of Aylesham Carnival Court Alan Watson, windmill owner Caleb Watson and Sittingbourne PCSO Sarah Bodiam.

Girls were judged on categories including dress sense, personality and public speaking.

Her princesses are Danika Garrett, 16, from Minster and 19-year-old Rachael Abbott from Sheerness.

The girls’ first official function will be the Sandwich Carnival Court on Saturday.

“All the girls did really well and it was good fun.

“I would like to thank last year’s court – they did a beautiful stand-down and everybody was crying.”
