Mobile fish and chip shops Al's Chippy coming to Sittingbourne next week

A new mobile fish and chip shop is heading for Sittingbourne.
Al’s Chippy will be open for business on Monday and will be travelling around the town serving helpings of one of Britain’s favourite foods.
Owner Alex Moore, 26, from Sittingbourne says he has built up years of experience working in chip shops across Kent before deciding to try out a new venture on his own.
At the beginning, he will have the helping hand of his family but he says he is hoping to take on more staff later.
He said: “I decided to start the businesses because it has always been something on my mind. We have often talked about it.
“I know I can make the freshest and tastiest food on the van and delivering around the town. I am sure people will love it.”
If the Sittingbourne experiment is successful he has plans to expand into Medway and Maidstone.
He said: “Customers will get exactly the same experience from the van as they do in the shop and it will be quality food.”
Al’s Chippy will be on the road seven days a week from 4pm to 8pm.
On Monday it will make its debut at Sonora Fields and Vellum Drive before visiting Iwade and School Lane on Tuesday. On Wednesday it will visit Bredgar and its village pond.
On Thursday the van will hit Eden Village and Bluebell Drive and on Friday Alex will visit Kingsborough Manor and Hustlings Drive.
On Saturday he will call at Great Easthall community centre.
Alex admitted he is nervous about taking the plunge into his first business during a coronavirus pandemic but he says he has been amazed by the support he has received.
He said: “I was worried that starting it up during a pandemic would be a massive gamble because of the various restrictions and with lots of people out of work and other businesses affected,.
“But I’ve had so much love and support on social media that I really do think people are looking forward to trying my food.
“It will be something different. I’ve always been honest letting customers know where I get my supplies from. It is the best quality and it is always cooked fresh. It’s a proper fish and chips meal.”
