Traffic lights at Queenborough are to be upgraded after complaints about waiting times.
MP Gordon Henderson contacted Highways England (HE) about the signals on the A249 by Queenborough Corner.
Mr Henderson’s office manager Mike Whiting, said: “This follows numerous complaints from constituents that they are kept waiting for extended periods on red lights while there is no traffic passing through the junction.
“The queue to turn right towards Halfway from the A249 regularly backs up on the A249 and, on Fridays to the Morrisons roundabout.”
As a result of the approach the HE’s Arvind Patel, whose responsibilities include the A249, arranged for the junction to be monitored 24 hours a day, seven days a week.
He said the study had shown the lights were not “performing at the optimum level”.
As a result, they are to receive an overhaul including installing the latest traffic detection technology which is due to be complete by September.
