A new children’s centre has opened on the Island with a day of fun for youngsters.
Lilypad Children’s Centre is based at Minster Primary School and is for children aged under five. The official opening of the centre was last Tuesday where children were entertained by Stripey Wipey the clown.
There was also face painting, music and arts and crafts.
Lilypad Children’s Centre is funded by Kent County Council and will offer numerous sessions for under fives and their families, including toddler sessions, music sessions, messy play, pre and post natal classes and movement and music sessions.
Midwives and health visitors will also be working with the centre. In the Minster catchment area there are about 650 under fives who will be eligible to use the service, but the centre is open to families across the Island.
Charlie Sunderland, who was employed by KCC to be the centre’s network manager, said: “People with children under five will be able to access all the services under one roof.”
