Pensioner, 80, suffered serious head injuries after being hit by car in Barton Hill Drive, Minster

Police are appealing for information after an elderly pedestrian was seriously injured in Minster, Sheppey.

The man, in his 80s, was hit by a black Kia Cee’d in Barton Hill Drive at 1.40pm on Saturday.

The crash happened near the junction with Sanspareil Avenue.

The pensioner, who had been walking, received a serious head injury and was taken to a London hospital for treatment. He remains in hospital.

Officers from the Serious Collision Investigation Unit want to hear from anyone who witnessed the collision.

The road was closed by police as the man was treated by paramedics at the scene.

Fire crews were also present.

Traffic was turned away at the junction with Minster Road and diverted either down Parsonage Chase or through the Harps estate.
