Arrest made after appeal launched to help find Medway man, Jacob Winnett, who was ‘on the run’ from Sheppey prison

Police have made an arrest after a criminal allegedly escaped prison.

Officers launched an appeal to help find Jacob Winnett who they said was “unlawfully at large” from jail.

The burglar, of Hyacinth Road, Rochester, was jailed after 17 premises were targeted during a five-month crime spree.

Winnett broke into 10 homes, attempted to burgle six more and also illegally entered a business premises between October 21, 2019 and February 10, 2020.

Members of the public were urged to contact the police if they saw Winnett, who was believed to be in the Sheppey area.

Officers have since confirmed an arrest has been made, and they are no longer seeking information to help find him.
