Class at St George's Church of England Primary School in Minster closed as teacher isolates

A primary school has been forced to close its site for a whole class group as they struggle to find cover due to coronavirus.

One teacher from St George's Church of England Primary School in Chequers Road, Minster, Sheppey, was advised to self isolate, and it wasn't possible for another colleague to cover the class as staff numbers were stretched.

Now, the school has had to close the class from tomorrow until Monday, November 16.

Head teacher Howard Fisher told parents the infected teacher will be making contact through their online work system.

He said: "He will be making daily contact through dojo and setting work and will be available throughout the day to answer questions.

"Please ensure your child is ready to learn each day."

He added how people who don't have IT equipment can contact the teacher who may be able to sort out loaning some out.

The head teacher continued: "The teacher is currently not asymptomatic so unless your child is showing symptoms themselves you do not need to arrange a test."

Mr Fisher said parents will be informed if the teach shows any signs of the virus and that families who need a free school meal can arranged a packed lunch for pick up."

Earlier today it was revealed three staff from McDonald's in Bridge Road, Isle of Sheppey , tested positive for Covid-19 last week.
