Children were opened up to a whole culinary experience when Greek chefs were invited into classrooms.

Staff from Rose Cafe in High Street, Sheerness, went to share authentic dishes from the country on Tuesday with pupils from Halfway Houses Primary School on Sheppey.

Members of Year 3 tasted moussaka, stifado, pitta bread, chicken and lamb mix, tzatziki, feta cheese, olives and Greek potatoes.

The visit was part of wider project looking at different cultures from around the world.

Year 3 teacher Clare James said: "The food was absolutely delicious.

"Thank you very much to the Rose Cafe for coming in and providing us with the food."

The school's head of year, Jayne Stupple, added the children enjoyed the dishes they tried.

"We're so grateful that they took the effort to come in and join us," she said.

"The children got to taste such beautiful food."

Favourites included the stifado – a type of beef stew – and the Greek potatoes.
