Organisers are delighted by the success of this year’s Isle of Sheppey Relay for Life.
Nearly 100 people took part in the 24-hour event at Barton’s Point Coastal Park at the weekend.
Almost £8,000 was raised for Cancer Research UK, and there is still more money to come in.
The opening ceremony was at 12.45pm on Saturday with a performance from the Isle of Sheppey Music Centre.
A group of 16 survivors took a lap of honour to start the relay, before the other 10 teams joined in.
There were a number of stalls set up including a doughnut stall, tombola and tin can alley.
Islander Jay Manning attempted to break a world record by keeping his balance on a paddle board for 24 hours.
He managed the full time but is still waiting to find out if he has been successful.
About 90 people set up camp for the night, and on Saturday evening there was a Candle of Hope ceremony to remember those who have been lost to cancer.
Organiser Lee Ewart said: “It was a lot of fun and a lovely atmosphere.
“Everybody enjoyed themselves and I’m so happy with how it went – it was a great event this year and I’m over the moon.
“I would like to thank each and every member of the committee and Annette and Steve Humphrey who helped out a lot.”
