Marston's pub set for Neats Court Retail Park, Queenborough, Sheppey

The Island’s newest pub-restaurant will be opening in April, creating 40 jobs.

The Four Bridges, owned by the Marston’s brewery, is being fitted out next to Morrisons and the A249.

A sign was put up over the Christmas period near the site in Neats Court, Queenborough, advertising for staff. The chain says it expects to serve around 3,000 people a week.

A spokesman for the developer of Neats Court has confirmed it is in talks to fill the remaining two units.

Giles Haywood of LXB Retail Properties said: “We are in discussion with two national retailers about the two remaining spaces.”

He could not comment on the businesses but said details should follow at the end of the month.

The retailers will join the seven already there; last month the Original Factory Shop opened.

Sports Direct opened last May, with 25 casual roles. Poundland began trading in December 2014, with B&M Bargains having moved in in September 2014, creating 60 jobs.

Iceland, which also has a shop in Sheerness High Street moved into its new premises in September 2014 with 20 new jobs created.

Across the road, Aldi will provide 400 jobs when its regional distribution centre opens.

Due to bad weather machinery was taken away from the site over Christmas but work is due to restart soon.
