An RNLI (Royal National Lifeboat Institution) crew was called out to three incidents in just one day.

The volunteers at the Sheerness lifeboat responded to back-to-back shouts on Tuesday (March 5).

Its inshore lifeboat (ILB) was launched at 11.10am to the Chatham Maritime area of the River Medway following reports of a person in the water.

The crew was stood down shortly after when they were informed that the Coastguard had the situation under control.

A few hours later the ILB was launched again, this time at 2.40pm, following reports of two people cut off by the tide at Minster seafront.

However, the ILB was stood down 10 minutes later after being informed the people involved were ok.

Later that night the ILB was paged for a third time to reports of a yacht in difficulty by Sheerness seafront.

It launched at 9.40pm and was on scene, which was adjacent to Tesco, just five minutes later and found an eight-metre yacht in very shallow water.

The crew escorted the vessel to deeper water, and it was discovered that the yacht had rudder problems.

It was then towed to the All Tide Landing in Queenborough, the ILB got back to the station at 11.05pm.
