There were smiles all round after a fun day to raise money for cancer sufferer Isabella Coomber.
The plucky three-year-old, who has an inoperable brain tumour, is at the heart of the Little Lion’s Den charity, which offers a retreat for families who have children with cancer.
Families in need of a break from hospital visits can stay for free at the charity’s caravan on Sheerness Holiday Park.
The Halfway Road park was the venue on Sunday, which featured live music from the Sheppey Folk and Blues Club and a range of attractions, including inflatables, stalls, face-painting and a tombola.
More than £400 was raised, which will be put towards a £10,000 appeal for a new caravan for families to stay in at the park. This sum will be matched with another £10,000 by the holiday park’s owner, Cosgrove Leisure, for the purchase of a new unit.
Sheerness Holiday Park sales manager Paul Horridge said: “The park is a family-run business and when the owners heard about Isabella they just wanted to help.
“A lot of families make use of the caravan and many of them spend weeks at Great Ormond Street so its nice for them to have a break.”
The fundraiser was organised by holiday park sales advisor Steve Freeman, who was helped by Morrisons, as the supermarket supplied an articulated truck for the stage, while Tesco also donated raffle prizes.
