MOTORISTS and passers-by were stunned when they saw parts of animals strewn over a main road.

It is not known where the parts came from but they are believed to be trotters and other parts of pigs.

They looked as though they had fallen from a lorry in Bridge Road, Sheerness, as there was a plastic bag among the blooded debris.

They were all over the road on Monday afternoon but had been cleared by the following day.

Despite inquiries by the|Sheerness Times Guardian newspaper, there is no record of who they belonged to or who cleaned up the road.

One motorist, Alison Goodhew, of Chalk Road, Queenborough, had just been to a nearby superstore with her son Harry.

She said: “He is only 11 and was almost in tears when he saw the bits of animals because he is a dedicated vegetarian.

“He is so against eating meat that he cannot stand even seeing the turkey on Christmas Day.”

Farmer John Lewis, of Holm Place Farm, Halfway, said: “The trotters and other bits are suitable for human consumption so my guess is they fell off a lorry."

Neither the police nor the Highways Agency received reports about the lost animal parts.
